Measurements and testing are reliable only if performed in well-defined controlled laboratory conditions (grounding, temperature, humidity).
However, this is not possible when the equipment under test:
- is embedded into another object
- is too large to fit into the laboratory facilities
- requires particular power supplies which cannot be provided by the laboratory
