Development of a Pre-Commercial 750 kW Wind Power System

Abstract

The overall objective of the project is capacity building of the Croatian industry for constructing wind power facilities. This includes development, construction and experimental operation of a wind turbine which is synchronized with the power grid.

In 2002, Končar – Electrical Engineering Institute Inc. (project coordinator) and Energy Institute Hrvoje Požar (project partner) proposed a so-called Complex Technological R&D Project (STIRP) titled Development of Pre-Commercial 750 kW Wind Power System.

The project aims at development of new technological solutions for generator, frequency converter and control system that utilize contemporary design and construction tools. The project results will be verified in-site through measurements on selected test bay. The project shall result in new job creation and increased market competitiveness of the Croatian companies in wind energy area.
