Ante Elez, PhD, Head of Machine Monitoring Section in Končar – Institute, was presented Vera Johannides Award for 2012 at the celebration of the 20th anniversary of Croatian Academy of Engineering and the 28th annual meeting of the Academy which took place at the Mimara Museum in Zagreb.
This annual award is given to a scientist younger than 35 with doctoral degree who achieved a significant personal, scientific or professional advancement in the last five years, or who made a considerable contribution in the area they research.
Prof. Emeritus Vera Johanides was a distinguished scientist noted for her dedicated work in graduate and postgraduate studies, and excellent collaboration with industry in the production of antibiotics, fermentation processes and environmental protection. Therefore the Academy has named its annual award for young scientists who are not its members after this highly appreciated scientist.
